Oscar Wilde
Oscar Wilde was born on 16 October 1854 in Dublin. He did brilliant studies at Trinity College in Dublin and in Oxford. Wilde was famous for his He married Constance Lloyd in 1884 and they had two sons, but in 1891 Wilde began an affair with Lord Alfred Douglas. And in 1895, Oscar Wilde was sentenced to two years of hard labour because he was homosexual. Wilde realized that his reputation was ruined. He spent the rest of his life in Europe and died in Paris on 30 November 1900.
His career was very various. He wrote poems, several tales (Lord Arthur Saville’s Crime and Other stories in 1891 and The Happy Prince and Other Stories in 1888) but his most famous works are the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray and the play the Importance of Being Earnest.
